What We Know
Hot off the presses for your Monday morning, we have a brand new carbon Doxa that continues the brand's Seafoam colorway limited edition models with Watches of Switzerland. Following the established format of the carbon-clad spin on the classic Doxa dive watch shape, this new edition has a light green dial, comes with a matching light green NATO, and is limited to just 100 pieces.
From a specs standpoint, this model follows the previous examples of the Sub 300 Carbon with a 42.5mm-wide forged carbon case with a uni-directional bezel and a titanium case back. Water resistance is 300 meters, and this carbon diver uses an ETA 2824 automatic movement that is COSC certified, ticks at 4 Hz, and has a power reserve of 38 hours. If you'd like to read more about the Doxa Sub 300, please take a look at my Hands-On with another special version, and this Introducing for another recent addition to the line.
Limited to 100 units, this Watches of Switzerland exclusive limited edition carries a price tag of $3,990 and includes both an FKM rubber strap and a light green NATO-style strap.
What We Think
I have to admit some bias from the top here, as I am a huge fan of the Sub 300 Carbon (as stated in the above-linked stories), and Watches of Switzerland owns Hodinkee. That said, I was surprised to see this new model hit my inbox this morning and then even more surprised when I found myself rather interested in what, on paper, feels like it would be a strange combination of color and material for a limited edition Doxa. Nine times out of ten, I prefer my Doxas in one of the classic colorways, but to my surprise, this shimmering light green dial looks really good against the greys and blacks of the carbon case.
As a fella that already has more than enough black dial dive watches, this unexpected combo feels like a really fun addition to the Seafoam-green Watches of Switzerland limited editions and is certainly my fave of the collaborations thus far. Furthermore, I believe the Seafoam coloring enhances the Sub 300 Carbon's compelling offering, which combines an old-school shape (the classic 1967 footprint of the Sub 300) with a modern and lightweight material.
With only 100 being made, whether you're all in on the Sub 300 Carbon (as its numbers continue to grow) or are looking for the complete Seafoam set, you can find all the details below.
